Barnane, better known as Topsy, is our purebred Gypsy Cob mare. She is a 1997 baby. She came to us in the Fall of 2003 from the green rolling mountains of Ireland.

Topsy has the sweetest disposition you could ever hope for. Unbelievably calm in demeanor, you can put the greenest riders on her bareback with nothing more than a halter or a piece of string and know they will be absolutely completely safe with her.

Jacqueline compares her often to the English Sheepdog in Peter Pan, "Nana". She is just so concerned with her rider and how they are faring up there on her back.

In fact, after Jacqueline had her baby in November of 2005, Topsy was the first horse of her herd she rode as she was getting past her postpartum period.

The day Topsy stepped off the trailer at Toadstool Farm, Jacqueline draped the halter over her neck, hopped on her bareback and puttered all over the Los Angeles Equestrian Center.

In and out and between the tractors, show trailers and temporary barns being torn down from the last weekends Big Dressage Show, Topsy and Jacqueline wove and never once did Topsy so much as look funny at any of the strange and scary new things she saw. Jacqueline said it was like riding a Yoga Mat! Safe and relaxing.

Topsy has the most stunning "Fairy Eyes"...Jacqueline's name for blue eyes with black eyeliner.

A solidly built mare with good feathering and great markings, she is just so adorable. And there is just nothing cuter than that white face and forelock with the little black ears poking out of the hair!

With her many ink spots we are almost certain she is homozygous for color. To top it all off she has black marks around her mouth that give her an air of always smiling. Can you beat that? We are praying her babies get her markings!

Our 2009 foal has already been reserved, but please contact us for more info on reserving our 2010 foal. Yes, our foals often sell before they are even conceived and we've never had a purebred hit the ground without it's already being sold, so dont let your chance for one of these highly sought after, famous foals go by...email today.

See below to meet some of Barnane's foals...

Mercedes

Barnane's fifth foal for Toadstool Farm and by our own Finnvarra. She is a perfect blend of both sire and dam. So cute, so sweet and full of the dickens.

Congratulations to Andrea who snatched up this little charmer in utero ( actually pre -in utero!)

Mystic Dream

Barnane's fourth foal for Toadstool Farm and by our own Finnvarra. He is the spitting image of his sire, and just as sweet as his mother.

Dream has been sold to Michelle, who purchased him in utero.

Keegan

Welcome to the world to little Keegan, Barnane's third foal for us, and second by our own wonderful Finnvarra!. Born on April 23rd, 2006! This has to be the most snuggly colt we have had to date. He is in your back pocket all the time. And brave! Breeding his mother back to his sire, he tried to chase away Finnvarra when he decide he'd had enough of this big guy messing with his mama! And like a typical boy, he loves to play in the mud!

Weeble has been sold to Leslie Davis, who purchased him in utero.

Zaire

Barnane's second foal by our own wonderful Finnvarra!. Born on March 23rd, 2005, Frangi is Finn's first foal! And she is Daddy's lille girl! A cheeky, long legged, beautifully marked darling . We are exceptionally proud to know Finn has fulfilled his promise as an excellent sire!

Zaire has been sold to Janel McDonald, who purchased her in utero.

Ailish

Barnane's first foal for Toadstool Farm by the wonderful stallion, Ard Ri. Born at about 2 in the afternoon on March 4th, 2004, Ailish of Beacan ( meaning 'Toadstool' in Gaelic) is the first foal on US soil by Ard Ri. We are exceedingly pleased with this longlegged, supremely feminine filly!

Ailish has been sold to Ingrid at Friesian Forest, who purchased Ailish in utero. Want to see more of our special foals?
