Once upon a time in a land far away, and in a time farther away than I care to think about, I was born to two Elven parents. Somewhere along the line I was switched for a human child and left with two completely normal human parents.
At some point the lure of my wood elf nature became too great and my human parents moved our family from deepest Southern California to a small town in the mountains of Colorado and settled on a small ranch about 4 miles outside that town. It is difficult, if you are a misfit child of nature, not to find your greatest comfort and dearest friends in the trees and critters and so forth of the world, and so I did. I took great delight in wandering the hidden pathways and discovering the magical nooks of the forest realm I called home, and it was not long before I started committing these secrets to paper in the forms of sketches, writings and later, paintings.
At some point my 5'11" self was discovered by a Parisian modeling scout and I was sent to that wonderful European city. I spent the next year calling Paris home and came back with a severe case of old-Europe-crave-itis. Its never left and it's influence can be seen in the world I slowly began creating for myself, Toadstool Farm. Not long after retuning to the States, I married a rockstar, had his son, and moved from New York, where I'd been modeling, to Los Angeles. Of course, the natural progression from modeling when you live in L.A. is acting and I took to it easily. Especially once my first marriage fell apart and I was home enough to devote more time to pursuing it, as opposed to being on tour with the rock star. I loved acting, I loved the idea of being able to live the fantasy life I dreamt about and had felt a calling for since I first became aware of thought.
In time though I realized that I wasn't really living what you see on the screen. I was still just me living the same life, only now pretending to be someone else. Meanwhile, my own world of Toadstool Farm was growing and developing and becoming more and more real every day. I had found a wonderful cottage in the Valley that spoke to me, I was doing wildlife rescue out of that home, I was starting to research getting back into a childhood passion of mine: horses. I was engaged to a great guy. Eventually, my own world was just way more beguiling than anything Hollywood could dream up, and I left acting for good.
It was then I picked up paint and brush again. Once again, I was discovered by a scout. This time for the Southern California Renaissance Faire, the mother of all faires, the one that started the Renn Faire craze. It was at this Faire that my new art career really began taking off. Now, years later, my work can now be seen in private collections across the globe, on a variety of products such as figurines, calendars, journals, tiles, mugs, and more, even jewelry! It has been published in numerous fairy and fantasy publications and is on display at many of the largest Renaissance Faires in the world.
Over the years my magical world expanded with the creation of a complete herd of fairytale horses, starting with my soulmate, Pagan, a Friesian gelding who has gone on to become famous in print, film and performance. I have been extraordinarily blessed to be his partner. I've also developed my writing, which has been published in a variety of forms, continued to do some modeling, but now for fun with jobs I see as interesting or unique, and have taken great joy in being the mother of two of the worlds most amazing people; my half Elf children, Rory and Antonia. Early in 2011, I decided it was time to get off the road so much so I cut back on my Renn faire schedule, started a fund raiser and opened a vintage and vintage-inspired store in my home town of Burbank. Its my own little domain and I spend most of my time there. Most recently, an event happened to me in February 2010 that seriously altered my life and the way I look at things. You can read all about it on this website in the section called The In Between. The change that began that day has grown and spread throughout my life and I have a new calling and what I can only call a vocation because of it. It was this that sparked a complete change in my webworld and my direction, leading to the current webdesign you are seeing now.
Always missing the Elven world from whence I came, I have now fully created my own magical world, Toadstool Farm, full of wonder, magic and not a little mischief. It is here you can meet my fairytale horses, read my ofttimes slightly insane writings, view my fantasy artwork and shop for my fairytale goods.
As you explore my own little world, never mind the smell of dust and hay, or the feel of shadows on your arm, thats just the horses or maybe an errant elf or wandering ghost...welcome to Toadstool Farm.
I remain a misfit.
